Pavurallakonda Buddhist Site is an ancient hilltop Buddhist monastery located near Bheemunipatnam, about 25 km from Visakhapatnam. Dating back to the 3rd century BCE, it is one of the largest Buddhist monastic complexes in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The archaeological site features ancient stupas, viharas (monasteries), chaityas, meditation halls, Brahmi inscriptions, and rock-cut water cisterns. Perched approximately 150 meters above sea level, the site offers breathtaking views of the Bay of Bengal and the Gosthani River, making it a perfect destination for history enthusiasts, photographers, and nature lovers. Excavations have uncovered coins, pottery, beads, and other relics that highlight the region's rich Buddhist heritage.
