About INHS Kalyani Hospital

Indian Naval Hospital Ship Kalyani, at Visakhapatnam, is a premier military hospital now in her 55th year. She traces her origins to 1943 when a 12-bedded Sickbay was set up for a small garrison of the Royal Indian Navy, billeted in the port town. On 18th May 1962, an upgraded full-fledged hospital was commissioned as Naval Hospital Visakhapatnam and later re-christened INHS Kalyani. Today the hospital with 306 beds serves as a tertiary referral centre for military personnel and their families from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu.
